Shadow of Night

Waste my hate on You

He felt the soft nudge and the first think he could make out with his tired eyes was her mug right in his face. He flinched just by the close sight, but didn't make any noise. Listening to her, he nodded and stood up. The loud snoring of the drunken cowboys would cover some of their noisy tromping around. He shook off his dirty coat, now refreshed and regained, he knew that he would be able to out run those drunken humans.... as a mater of fact, he could probably out walk them.

She shook her pelt and began to work the not loose that held her. She pulled and tugged on it with her teeth until it came loose. She did a quiet snort at him and pulled his rope loose as well. She trotted silently over to the small padock that contaned the other horses and waited for shadow.

He watched her as she loosened the knot in her slip halter, then even quicker, untied his. He trotted silently over to the paddock as well and stood silently, waiting to see what the stallion would do. He hoped that none of them would make any loud noises as they moved out, or try to push each other out of the way. About 7 horses stood in the paddock, but the stallion that nipped Es would be the last to get out once she was far away, or maybe if he would try to bite or gewt rowdy, might not even get out.

She beared her teeth at the stallion and flattened her ears. The stallion backed away, his head low, and pleading in his eyes, "don't even think about it" she spat at him. It was unlikely Shadow would like having the stallion doing that. She tossed a glance at him and wondered 'will he let me be me? Or will he have to learn?' She had a nagging suspition that he would have to learn, but if he wasn't to hard headed maybe he would listen.

She tossed another glance at him as if to say 'let me take care of myself'. She fell apon the latch that held the other horses in and lipped it slowly. It was just a chain lifted over a post. She flipped it over and nosed thegate open.

He caught her glance and could tell she wanted to take care of herself. He gave her a quick nod and took a couple steps back, once she got the gate open he quietly trotted into the ring. He got out of the other horses go by, exept for one mare and her foals. He knew she was going to have a hard time on her own with her two foals, so had one of the young mares go with her to help her.

Estafina let Shadow do his part and helped them mare get her two foals out. Soon they came out and were racing away with the other horses. She looked at Shadow and through a joyfull kick at him as they raced out of the ring. She pulled up to the front of the line as the humans camp faded in the distence.

He felt a soft wind brush by him. He looked at a small mule who galloped along with the herd of new wilds. He quickly whipped around as the sight of Es quickly flashed by him. He quickly started at a slow gallop. His long pillars stretched out far, moving him further away from the human land quickly. Many of the horses turned off at a sharp right that veered away from the woods and into dry land, but Shadow kept running forward to reach the forest.

Estafina kept at the head of the quickly shrinking group and steared her coarse to the forest. Silver daggers drove into the soft earth as they came to the forest. There no longer any domestics behind them, and she did not hesitate to plunge into the cool dark forest. She skided to a stop and looked back ears pricked for the sound of shadow's hooves falling softly on the damp leaves of the forest. The moonlight shone through the trees sending soft dapples of light over her silver coat and ebony head.

The tall burjo plunged into the dense forest, the sound of the leaves stirring in his passing wind and the crunch of teh dry ones under his larger daggers was about the only sound at the moment. He spotted Es not far from where he was and slowed gradually to stop behind her. He gave her a soft nudge and lifted his skull back up high, his whip cracking back and forth. He didn't really think much of it, but he was starting to liek this flicka. He gave her a warm smile and spotted a twig in her mane. Pillars picked up and he moved to her side, softly lipping the twig and pulling it out.

[color=blue] Estafina ignored him and focasted her attention on the rustling sounds of the quiet night around them. The soft muzzle was comforting against her hot hide and she closed her eyes with delite. She swished her tale and felt for a moment as if she was for once loved and cared for. She felt more at ease than she had almost her whole life. Only her mother had made her this content. But she was still weary and did not trust Shadow completely, there had been to much trauma in her life for her to do that, yet. She opened her eyes and enjoyed the quiet night, there was no moon and shadows shrouded the forest and made in beautiful. Her silver pelt gleamed and blended in with the shadowy forest.
